“Yes, ‘scuse me, you did,” said William politely. “I did not say he was called Bacon,” snapped Mr Welbecker. “You just said he was called Bacon,” said William. “I want first to tell you the story of the play of which you are all going to act a scene,” he said. “I said Bacon,” snapped Mr Welbecker again. “Well, why’s he got his name printed on all the books then?” said William. “Ah, but you see I don’t believe that Shakespeare did write them,” said Mr Welbecker mysteriously. “Well, how could this man Bacon write them if Shakespeare wrote them?” “Well, it’s nearly the same,” said William. A story in which William Brown gets involved in a production of Hamlet, ‘William Holds The Stage’ contains probably the finest takedown in English Literature of Shakespeare-truthers, and it’s my favourite for this reason: I think including this story might be cheating, since I listened to the audiotapes – read by Martin Jarvis – so much as a child that I’m not entirely convinced I’ve ever actually read it. Taking a quick detour into classic children’s comedy, in which no-one is stalked by a grisly double but a schoolboy does nearly drive his teacher insane.

Heck! Even a murder thrown in would have been cliched but entertaining. There's no drama, no plot twists, and no plot to twist. It's one long, dull chapter of nothing after another. I don't mind episodic novels in which each chapter is a tiny event that comes together as a whole (Peter Darbyshire's Please is an excellent example of this), but nothing comes together with Prep. In any case, Prep sucks.ġ) NOTHING happens. So, in that regard, Curtis Sittenfeld is an excellent writer (perhaps it's a last name thing). I always say if a writer can evoke complete hatred and dislike for their protagonist from me, then they must be a good writer (Lucinda Rosenfeld's What She Saw. Sounds like a pretty straightforward deal.but soon Taryn and Trey realize they got more than they bargained for. When he hears of Taryn’s situation, he offers her a deal – if she falsely claims he’s her true mate and allows him to claim her, he’ll save her from her arranged mating and then let her leave after the battle with his uncle is over. There’s only one problem with that – he would then be stuck with her, and the last thing Trey wants is a mate. He figures that the easiest way to do that would be to mate with a female whose Alpha is powerful and influential. Now that his uncle – a wolf with many alliances – means to take Trey’s territory and his pack, he has no option but to form some alliances of his own very quickly or he’ll be easily outnumbered in the upcoming battle. Having always disliked shifter politics, Trey Coleman hadn’t bothered trying to form alliances with other packs. As the answer in this case is yes, it looks as though she’ll have to agree to Trey Coleman’s deal… she’ll have to mate with him instead. Basically it comes down to whether she’ll do what it takes to escape the arranged mating with the sick SOB that her father set up. Unfortunately, Taryn Warner, a latent wolf shifter, doesn’t have many options open to her right now. If your inner wolf and your body react rather enthusiastically to a psychotic Alpha male who’s own wolf has a tendency to turn feral, it can’t be a good thing, can it? Entering into a bargain with him wouldn’t be good either. Its zap, zeep, znap, and Froggys in his uniform. Its the day of the big game, and Froggy is ready.
